Art District Downtown Vero Beach

Art Galleries in
Historic Downtown Vero Beach, Florida
14th Avenue (also called Main Street) and Beyond

Welcome to the Vero Beach Arts District's new collaborative blog.  Visit this "Blogspot" for news of coming or current events in the Arts District of Historic Downtown Vero Beach, Florida, featuring the works of local, regional, national and international artists in a myriad of mediums, subjects and styles.

In addition to fine art on canvas and paper etc., there is a vast array of jewelry, fiber art, basketry, photography, pottery, raku, artglass, fine art prints, and plenty of the ecclectic for those who dare to love the Avant-garde!

Galleries on 14th Avenue open their doors from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on First Fridays for our "First Friday Gallery Stroll," and welcome guests to view new works and the works of their featured artists.  Non-gallery businesses often feature local and regional artists' work in their establishments, and invite the public to enjoy refreshments, and often have special offers for their products and/or services.

Artists will be on hand to greet you and chat about their work and the work of others.  Enjoy music and refreshments as you stroll in and out of the galleries, viewiewing some of the region's finest artists and some stars of the national and international art world.

Eleven galleries (and more coming) are clustered in a three-block area--perfect for an evening's leisurely stroll.  This monthly event is free and open to the public, so join us for First Fridays and perhaps find just that perfect piece of art for your collection!

While you're here, dine at one of the 32 fabulous restaurants in or near the Art District
(www.verobeachartdistrictrestaurants.blogspot.com), or enjoy cocktails and live music at one of the clubs after the stroll.

Of Note ~
Galleries listed in this blog, and many artists therein on a personal basis, regularly give back
to the community and charitable organizations through donations of artworks,
expertise and financial contributions.

"Inside Out/Outside In"

Artists at the Artists Guild Gallery present portraits of themselves for the
month of June.  Although there was some "push-back" on this theme, artists
began thinking "out of the box" in order to get their image onto conavas or paper.
Come see what we've done with our own images!  Join us for an Opening Reception
June 7th, during the Art District's First Friday Strolls in lovely downtown Vero Beach.

Stop in to see what new works are on view
in our dozen-plus rooms of art!

  1. How are we looking at the paintings of Mark Rothko these days?
Is he old hat, replaced in America by more contemporary concerns? Looking at his minimal canvases and their enticing floating squares of subdued paint live at the MOMA recently, I had to stop to wonder whether he still communicates to a modern and younger audience.
Wahooart.com, the site that sells good canvas prints to order from their database of digital images, has many Rothko prints. I ordered this one, Blue and grey, http://EN.WahooArt.com/A55A04/w.nsf/OPRA/BRUE-8BWU7F
, that I have now hanging in my study. I can spend a long time looking at this elusive image that takes me to some other place not in this world.

  2. It's definitely important to support local artists. It's great that we have such an artistic community here in Vero Beach and so many talented artists.
